Jack
Perkins
The son of six time Bathurst champion Larry Perkins,
Jack Perkins gets another crack in 2009 at solidifying himself
as a regular in the V8 Supercar Championship Series.
After spending his early racing years in
karting and limited forays into Formula Ford, Perkins Jnr
joined the Fujitsu Series in 2006, finishing third in the
title chase behind Adam Macrow and team mate Shane Price.
He earned a call up to the main Jack Daniel’s squad
for 2007 and found things tough given his lack of experience
in the category. But it was being diagnosed with Type One
Diabetes that led to him stepping down from the final two
rounds of the series.
Returning to the Fujitsu Series in a Mack
Trucks backed VZ Commodore, Perkins was one of the pre season
favourites. A mid season slump hampered his championship challenge
but he finished off the season on a high with a race and round
win at Oran Park’s farewell event.
For 2009 he will again be behind the wheel
of a Perkins Engineering-built VE Commodore, however run out
of the new Kelly Racing workshops in Melbourne. |
